Aircraft Supplementary Equipment Co., Ltd, Battery powered aircraft equipment includes emergency lighting units, avionics equipment, emergency escape deployment, communication system, and inertial reference/navigation system. The onboard generator provides the necessary power, but before starting the engine or during an emergency, the batteries must take over. These batteries are usually grouped under the name emergency batteries. The aircraft's main battery is used to start the engine or auxiliary power unit (APU), which requires a high peak power capacity for a short duration typically 15-30 seconds. It also provides the necessary electrical power, in the event of a generator failure, to ensure a return to earth within 30-60 minutes. In a shorter time frame, the battery can act as a capacitive filter that helps regulate the aircraft's DC grid, reducing the effect of crossings, altitudes and superimposed AC current that may arise from the generation source.

In candidate batteries for aircraft applications, several requirements must be considered: capacity, stability in different environments, depth of discharge (DOD), age, hardness and weight. The optimum battery selection for these applications enables safe, efficient, efficient and economical energy storage. The optimized battery also facilitates the start of operations, reduces impacts on resources, supports emergency operations and meets tough loads.

Aircraft Supplement Equipment Co., Ltd. Two chemical compounds are used mostly on aircraft today, Ni-Cd and lead acid. Lead-acid and Ni-Cd batteries have been in use since the early days of aviation. The former continues to be used in light aircraft or general aviation, but the introduction of valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries has provided stiff competition. On the other hand, ventilated Ni-Cd batteries dominate applications in larger aircraft and helicopters, while there is some overlap with lead acid technology in smaller aircraft such as business jets. The main Ni-Cd battery and the lead acid emergency battery are shown. Li-ion offers significant weight savings and has already been adopted in advanced military programs.
