Finding tree trunks from highly organized forests
It starts with finding logs that come from highly organized forests, that are operated to the highest environmental standards possible. This specifically helps with sustainability.
The sawmill begins by cutting logs into what is known as raw wood, which will be graded in three basic ways - species, length and thickness.
drying process
Kiln drying Kiln drying is a process in which heat generated by steam from ovens is used to dry wood until the moisture content is between 6-8 percent. The steam in these kilns is fed to wood-fired boilers where all the wood is either a binary product of the same sawmill or factory processes.
Once the wood has been kiln dried, it will be re-peeled, and this process can take up to 30 days.
coarse mill
Once the drying process is complete, the wood will enter the next stage, the coarse mill. This is where the wood will be cut, flattened, and glued.
This is also the stage in which wood is processed into boards that are used to make furniture. When a company is able to manage the entire process from raw materials to finished product, it is possible to have complete control over the quality of the product.
